Glad to hear you made it to Copper Canyon - such a spectacular place!! We did exactly the same thing as you a year ago - ditched the bikes for a while in Mochis and took the train up into the mountains.

You are now headed into unfamiliar territory for us, so we will be reading carefully and taking notes - be our 'advance' eyes and eyes - 'kay??

Enjoy Central America!

Americans' obsession with margaritas... LOL. More like, Americans' obsession with finding cheap ways to get drunk. Keep a safe distance, avoid conversation with such folks at all costs, and enjoy the spectacle. But it's a one-time show - the story is the same again and again and again.

What a fantastic adventure you are having! You must have legs (and lungs!) of steel. Thanks for sharing it with us home-bound (and currently, snow-bound) folks!

P.S. I think I have a new bike helmet under the Xmas tree! Woohoo!

I'm laughing as I read about your trials of biking in the mud and rain and traffic! But not in a disparaging way. I do a bit of biking myself (though I always leave from home and arrive at home :) and very much admire you for your tenacity! What an adventure you are having. I sigh to fantasize about it - it's something on my husband's and my "someday" list. We have two boys we homeschool who so far haven't adopted our liking for biking, but we still hope.

I think when the sink overflowed, that's when I might've cried. :)

I found your blog after someone directed me to Family on Bikes. Enjoy your adventure!

wow !! so cool you made it well into baja! I've been following your posts for a while now... i'm from Ensenada.. a town you missed by taking the bus to San Ignacio! But I think it was a wise decision because traffic is actually terrible at least in the most northern part... in the middle part of baja where you were as of this writing it's way better..

thanks a lot for your pictures.. they help me know my state a lot better! it's been a while since i went down there and of course it wasn't by bike... reading your adventures and seeing the pictures motivates me to do it someday soon ! thanks and congrats.. keep up the good work..

and, lol.. about the cockroaches... what can i say! they were eager to meet you !!

Yeh I think a salt lick is a place where hunters leave lumps of salt to attract animals, like deer, which like to lick the salt. At least that is what a hunter in teh Sierra Norte de Sevilla told me. I hope he wasn't pulling my leg

I hope you're going to write a letter of complaint. That's absolutely appalling, and you deserve at least a letter of apology!
